Yes, not like before where everyone had their own desk, in a hot-desking office there are certain number of desks and computers available for people to use, and anyone who needs them can use them。

不像以往的辦公室里，每人都有自己固定的辦公桌、電腦等等;在一個 hot-desking 辦公室里會備有辦公桌和電腦，但都不固定專門給某人使用，誰需要誰就可以用。This way, companies can save space by reducing the overall number of desks it needs to provide because not everyone is at work every day。

Yes, throughout the year, there are always people on leave, away from the office or off sick. It's more common to see hot-desking in big organisations。
