　　省略句

　　為了避免重復(fù)，或因習(xí)慣及結(jié)構(gòu)要求，句中可有一個(gè)或幾個(gè)成分被省略。被省略的有主語(yǔ)、謂語(yǔ)、表語(yǔ)、賓語(yǔ)、狀語(yǔ)，也可以是主語(yǔ)和謂語(yǔ)或謂語(yǔ)的一部分，這樣的句子被稱為省略句。

　　1.省略主語(yǔ)

　　Beg your pardon.

　　2.省略謂語(yǔ)或謂語(yǔ)部分

　　She was flying to England, and I to China.

　　3.省略賓語(yǔ)

　　She washed, and her husband ironed the shirts.

　　4.省略主謂

　　Good to see you again!

　　5.省略不定式

　　I meant to invite you, but forgot to.

　　6.并列句中的省略

　　In 1991 the number of branches of that company increased from nine to fifteen, and in 1994, to thirty.

　　7.在某些狀語(yǔ)從句中

　　He worked hard, though still poor in health.

　　If necessary, I'll have the contract duplicated.

　　Fill the form where necessary.

　　If possible, I should like to have two copies of the document.

　　1)If asked to explain it, most people reply that it is obviously the result of the predominance of right-handedness in the population.
