第六課：工作

    一．相關(guān)文化背景介紹

    （一）杜松子酒

    由于起原料使用杜松子而得名。 杜松子原為緩解疼痛所調(diào)配的藥物，后來(lái)于17世紀(jì)由一名醫(yī)生作為藥酒開發(fā)成功的。作為解熱劑，有利尿解熱的效用。杜松子酒源于荷蘭，但盛于英國(guó)。所以英國(guó)的杜松子酒名揚(yáng)世界。

    （二）白蘭地

    白蘭地的原意是葡萄酒的靈魂。它是一種烈性酒，由葡萄酒或水果發(fā)酵后蒸餾而成。但須放在木桶里經(jīng)過(guò)長(zhǎng)時(shí)間的發(fā)酵。法國(guó)白蘭地最為有名。產(chǎn)于法國(guó)西南部法國(guó)白蘭地的故鄉(xiāng)，依據(jù)法律，白蘭地的原料品種及制作均要經(jīng)過(guò)嚴(yán)格的確定，如不能達(dá)到標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，就不能稱為白蘭地。其中以康涅克白蘭地（COGNAC-BRANDY）尤為馳名。

    也可以說(shuō) compete against sb. 如為某時(shí)競(jìng)爭(zhēng)，則是compete for/in sth.。 例：
    Many businesses are competing against each other for this contract.
    許多企業(yè)正在為贏得這個(gè)合同而彼此競(jìng)爭(zhēng)。
    apply for    請(qǐng)求，申請(qǐng)；
    用于比較正式、正規(guī)的請(qǐng)求，申請(qǐng)，如護(hù)照，簽證等。例：

    It’s a good chance and you should apply for this job.這是個(gè)好機(jī)會(huì)，你應(yīng)當(dāng)申請(qǐng)這個(gè)工作。
    be aware of   知道，明白；
    后面可接sb./sth.。    例：
    Are you aware of the importance of learning English?
    你意識(shí)到學(xué)英語(yǔ)的重要性了嗎？
    I’m not aware of th e coming danger. 我沒(méi)有意識(shí)到將要來(lái)臨的危險(xiǎn)。

    句型

    1. And I was very fortunate in being able to work for a TV and radio company called Keith Fordyce.

    Called …稱作，叫做; work for…為。。。而工作;   be fortunate in doing sth..幸運(yùn)能做某事。

    2. My face turned the same colour as the brandy, but I managed to serve it in the right glass.

    Turned…the same …as同。。。一樣；manage to do sth.設(shè)法做成某事。

    3. A mixture of gin and tonic zoomed out of the glass, missing the general by inches, but hitting his wife between the eyes.

    三．常考語(yǔ)法

    獨(dú)立主格

    1. 獨(dú)立主格結(jié)構(gòu)的只要構(gòu)成為名詞/代詞 + 現(xiàn)在分詞/過(guò)去分詞； 。。。+ 形容詞； 。。。 + 副詞；。。。+不定式； 。。。+介詞短語(yǔ) 。例：
The test finished, we began our holiday.考試結(jié)束了，我們開始放假。
He came into the room, his ears red with cold.他回到房間時(shí)耳朵都凍紅了。

    2． 獨(dú)立主格結(jié)構(gòu)的主要特點(diǎn)是：其邏輯主語(yǔ)與句子的主語(yǔ)不同，它獨(dú)立存在；名詞或代詞與后面的分詞、形容詞、不定式、介詞短語(yǔ)等是主謂關(guān)系； 獨(dú)立主格結(jié)構(gòu)一般有逗號(hào)與主句隔開。例：Weather permitting, we are going to visit Mary tomorrow.
    如果天氣允許，我們明天去看Mary。
    This done, we went home.工作完成后，我們才回家。
    Tom came out of the library, a large book under his arm.湯姆夾著本厚書走出了圖書館。
