Of course a certain amount of dependence on others is not only good, but necessary. Children must be dependent on their parents; and the weak must depend on the strong, and the sick on the well. And in a sense, all of us, even the most independent and self-reliant, are dependent on one another. At any rate, in civilized society, it is impossible for anyone to make all the thing she needs. No man can produce all the food and clothes he wants. He can only produce one or two things, and must get all the others by exchange or purchase from others, who are doing the same thing. So in a community everyone is dependent on the service of others, while he himself contributes to the needs of others.

這是一段l20詞的段落，不難理解，共7句話，要求25分鐘完成翻譯，共計(jì)15分。這段短文的特點(diǎn)是句子都不長，結(jié)構(gòu)也不復(fù)雜。在這段翻譯中要注意的是：

1.對詞匯特別是一些詞組的理解要準(zhǔn)確。如：a certain amount of：有些;in a sense：從某種意義上說;At any rate：無論如何;by exchange or purchase from others：從別人處交換或購買;contributes to the needs of others：為滿足別人所需作出貢獻(xiàn)。

2.對句子結(jié)構(gòu)的理解要準(zhǔn)確，特別是要看清句子之間的關(guān)系。如：the sick on the well：這里是省略句，原句應(yīng)該是the sick must depend on the well。又如：who are doing the same thing：其他人也是一樣。
